And when you fix it for them, they immediately appreciate the difference! I believe most people simply don't take into consideration the overall space or nearby furnishings when they're hanging art... they just think "the art goes up here where I can see it" and that's that, end of thought process. I can't tell you how many times I've seen 8x10 or 11x14 family photo portraits all in a row, way above eye level about two feet apart. The priority was to get those frames up on the wall because that's our family and we love them and, while we're at it, let's spread them out so they fill up more space!Tracy Watierhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06173203339834757559noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-594508409437632905.post-37905592891969655672009-08-18T09:01:15.622-07:002009-08-18T09:01:15.622-07:00I agree ~ probably the thing I see most often, not...I agree ~ probably the thing I see most often, not just in client's homes, but in my parent's house {and it drives me batty!} When there are height differences between people, I usually tell them to pick somewhere in between the two heights. What a lot of people don't realize is that you are looking at this particular art while you are sitting down, not standing - that's why I use the 6 inches above the sofa standard too.Kathy @ Creative Home Expressionshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01341667486449125153noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-594508409437632905.post-92152085199584146452009-08-18T08:22:41.258-07:002009-08-18T08:22:41.258-07:00I agree! My son and d-in-law are about 6 feet tall and their artwork is very high, it makes sense to them, but not to me. My husband is also tall and he thinks my pics are way too low.
