Red

Red is a "drama queen ," it is hard to compete with and impossible to upstage.
And yet, it can be used as a neutral color . . . working well with most other hues that are paired with it.

As an accent it commands attention . . . providing the punctuation in a well-edited space.


Could you use just a touch, in your own castle?

    In my world, red is definitely a neutral. Goes with everything, makes me happy. The duvet covers on those beds are gorgeous, btw.

    * Yessirreebob, luuuuv red~~~ ALways have it SOMEplace (or two!) in our home (try as I MIGHT, I canNOT break away from it!)~

    When we first married (Yes, back in the ol' horse n' buggy days!), it was "our" color (the man obviously did N*O*T* want "GIRRRRRLY PINNNNKS"!)~~~

    BTW, terriffic curtains on PIC #1, & those black beds are toooooo divine, Vicky-girl!!!

    So funny that you should do a red post after your dining room post. Yep, you guessed it. My dining room is red..... but then that seems to be a popular dining room color. Time for me to change it!!!!!! Love picture #2! Great use of color!

    Hey Vicky, Here's a question for you. I was just up studying the black beds again. Do you think the designer "flipped" the position of those beds? I think the "headboard" that is shown in the picture was actually meant to be the footboard. Since it would have been covered by the bedding, it might have been flipped. What a great idea. It would have been tragic to cover up all of that detail. What doyou think?

    Just got some red introduced into our living room this year with a pak persian rug. I want to pull it out more with accent pillows but sometimes matching reds can be quite a challenge -- but definitely adds some drama for sure.

    Nope, won't see RED in 'my castle'. Not that I don't like it, but it doesn't like me. When I see RED, I actually see RED! It affects me psychologically. Since I am just a serene kind of gal...... not aggressive ...... it seems to agitate me. "That's NO BULL it is THE TRUTH".

    I'm loving that bedroom. Jacob's room is "the all american boy - red, white & blue" room. I have a dab of red - here and there, especially in the sunporch, but it is more of a brick red almost a cranberry. (You & Mrs. Ben crack me up.) ~ Robyn

    I used to have red as my main accent. But my walls were a strong gold. I tried to use it with my butter yellow and it was too strong. It just was not a cottage color. I have small accents around, but not much. It is still the accent color in my kitchen, but I am hoping to change out my canitsters and such to clear glass. I appreciate you tidbits of decorating knowledge. Hugs ~cindy s~
