Vicki you know my love affair with the color green but this is just too much for my eyes. The scale of the everything feels off to me.I just looked at it again and the pictures make me dizzy, hehe. Kind of like a wave. I can't wait to hear what you think???!!Kathysue
Remember when we had the discussion not too long ago about scale and balance? Well this is a GREAT example of WHAT NOT TO DO (in my ever so humble opinion!). Move beds apart, lamps are too small, pix would be better fashioned in a gallery type hanging over the two, don't like the mix of wall texture and paint above and below the chair rail..don't mind the top paint color though. Soooo, what are you thinking?
Needs something soft on the floor...the pictures over the bed are weird! Needs a comfy chair at the bottom of the bed..needs so much! Now it you tell me it's your's I'll just die! LOL Come say hi :D
So much potential wasted by putting those beds together. Pictures seem to be all wrong for the "feel" the beds create I think perhaps starting over with an empty room, new paint color etc would be a good thing :)
Everything looks too scrunched together for me. It looks like the beds and other pieces could be spread out a little bit. I'd also probably rehang those pictures because that would drive me crazy as is. Not sure what is on the floor but it could use a nicer area rug that goes with the furniture style better.
I love the beds, Side tables and chair. It needs: Space between bed, Matching bedding. New arrangements with pictures or something else like canopies. The color of paint is super hard to put it off, wrong pink for me. A huge rug or wooden floors.
Ugh...the pictures make me dizzy! Carpet (if that is carpet) is awful. Beds together...obviously a European room as beds pushed together are tradition.
The trust fund baby who lives in this room is far too busy keeping up with her social schedule to be bothered with how to arrange Grandmama's hand-me-downs.
Had to go back twice and look at that one. So STRANGE. Everything is out of proportion. Then again, it looks like they did it on purpose but just didn't get ANY of it right.
Potential here though I agree with most of the above comments about the pictures lamps and that chair just seems odd to me. It almost looks like everything has been pushed together readying the room for painting or deep cleaning or something! Would be interested where you found this picture!
Sorry Mary Ellen, but I don't remember where I got this picture. I loved everyone's take on the same space. I agree with all... I find that though everything is off, out of scale, wrong... it is sort of like the "Bad Boy", I still find myself attracted...I just know I could fix him...lol
hmmm, not really for me. I'm all for the unexpected, but I can't feel any sense of pattern or cohesiveness. But like you, I can see plenty of opportunities - the height of the room and generous light source seem very inviting.
There is no question, the pictures are hung haphazardly, the beds should be split apart. The scale is off. But, I think it is irrelevant. I'm thinking this is a room in Italy in a 200 year old country home that has looked this way forever. Probably belongs to a couple married over 50 years. The pictures were hung over time by the husband. They still sleep side by side. I think this picture is sweet. Sometimes undecorated is charming. --Delores
The beds remind me of "I Love Lucy", they had twin beds stuck together like that, with their own bedding for a while. I think the beds are seperate in some episodes. Anyway...I love the beds, they are very pretty. Odd that they have different color bedding, though. I'm not a fan of pictures put on the wall like that. I like a grouping better. Gorgeous bed side tables and little chair at the end. Maybe it is a child's bedroom? I love it when you do this. Cindy S.
Forget the rest of the room the beds are just magic!!! In a white room, muslin curtains to soften the lines of the beds and faded pink and green linen (where the colour is just there) That would so fit into our next home
I love the beds together. They need a small crown canopy above with fabric draped to make the bed feel like one. I agree it looks like carpet pad on the floor, that has to go and yes change up the pic's.
Love the Beds! That color and shape...mmmmmmm...yummy as for the rest--it looks like a stone floor, and it's probably European, so I really don't care what the rest of it looks like---I'll happily spend time here! annie
Ummm... I guess it would be redundant for me to say this is a mish mosh lol!!~ I do love the beds though they are pretty, with the right art work and beds separated it could make for a pretty room. Gosh, I just posted a mini home tour hope I do not get the same feedback as this room!~ LOL....
Well, OK: The bedrames are pretty, don't care for the photo grouping, the closeness of the beds or the little table at the foot of the beds. I think, actually, it's more about the arrangement that's not ringing my bells.
I think one person was very ill, and the other pushed their bed over close to comfort and care for the other in the middle of the night. It was an attempt to make fashion follow form-or make the best out of what could have been a very sad situation. This room is now designed out of necessity--in its hey day, when the beds were separate and the pictures were straight and the original carpet was still intact, it was quite lovely.
Well my friend, I wanted to come over to say hello and now I'm doing a bit of catching up at your place!
Ohhh...I love the beds in the photo! So pretty and frenchy! I don't even mind the color combinations in this room, however, the wall art bothers me! Hehe! I think it would have been much prettier...grouped above the beds!!!
My first thought when seeing this photo was Europe. I can't tell you how many places that we stayed in that had twin beds...pushed together....for a double bed room! Hehe...it was our honeymoon and we would always end up in one twin bed!
I LOVE this room! The beds pushed together are impractical, for sure but look great. I would like to jump in the middle but I'm sure they would move apart and I'd be on the floor. I love the color of the wall, the texture, the artwork, AND the way it is hung. So unique and unexpected. Ok, the flooring could be better.
OK...yes, it breaks all the rules...and that is what I love about it. Cept for the pictures that go "up" on the left...i would have to make those all level. LOL. But other than that...I think its great. It has style.
... let's just re-hang the pictures into a delightful grouping and nestle a drippy chandelier above the bed ... then my heart can rest!
ReplyDeleteI like the beds and that's about all ! Is that carpet pad on the floor ?
ReplyDeleteIt is not for me!Do you like it?

ReplyDeleteVery unappealing. I don't like the beds together. The arrangement of the "art" is off. I don't find anything to like about this room.

Pretty beds!
ReplyDeleteI sincerely want to rearrange the art though!
Uhmmmm, I like the furniture but I think both beds and frames should be rearranged to look a lot better...Christine
ReplyDeleteUgh...the pictures make me dizzy! Carpet (if that is carpet) is awful. Beds together...obviously a European room as beds pushed together are tradition.
ReplyDeleteI want to separate the beds and rehang the art. Then my little OCD self would be fine. ;-)

ReplyDeleteI must have a very critical eye but I just don't like it....went back and looked at it...nope don't like it.
ReplyDeleteDo you?
LeAnn

ReplyDeleteI love this room. It says romance to me. It feels as though it should be in a Bed & Breakfast or a chateau.

Too, too cinematic and out-of-century experience. I have no room for a book, a good lamp, a glass of water!
ReplyDeleteI love the green beds and everything is so interesting. The scale seems so wrong that it is unique and I like it. sandi
