"Blue" My favorite Color (NOT)

Most of you know my fear of blue used in the interior of a home. But I have come to understand that any color used in the right situation can be beautiful. Cheers to blue !

  1. Hi Vicky,
I too am learning to at least appreciate blue. The photos you show prove that blue can be beautiful too. It's just that it isn't my favorite color. I avoid it altogether! Maybe we should reconsider? Cheers to blue!

  4. Beautiful pictures. I like blue and my guest room is done in this color. But I must admit that I really prefer it as an accent color.

  9. Me too. Such a slave to trends I fear. Just a few years ago, I would not have considered using anything that was not warm and earthy, but the cooler side of the palette is showing up more for me these days. It is true that we are seeing some of these blues done very well and they inspire us, as your photos attest!

  10. A well known British decorator (can't remember which one) said that no room should be without a dash of blue and white. I think he's right - it gives a room life!

  11. Mary, I have never heard that one. I will give that some thought. However, " blue and white" is the color combo I like the least. I prefer it with lots of warm colors, browns, oranges ect. I love blue for the exterior , love it with lots of green . I guess part of my dislike for blue comes from working with clients... it seems my hardest are the blue and white people, hardest for me because we always seem to have other issues because our taste are so differant. My blue people always want the silk flowers ect.

  12. These are gorgeous rooms. I started liking blue last year when I started seeing a rich blue and brown used in French tapistries. Hated the pale blue and brown trend.

  13. I agree, after seeing your photos I was thinking, "these photos almost make me LOVE blue". Used right blue can be lovely, but it has to be used sparingly and only in very light and soft shades!

  15. Funny I tend to be "allergic" to blue also. I'll see a perfect icy grey blue and wish I could somehow include it in my decor, but alas blues won't work anywhere in my house. I think each room should have a little black...I think that famous British designer was just a little color blind *winks* LOL! Vanna

  16. As you know already, I am a great lover of blue! Just like living in the "Great White North" as I do, I feel its a colour that one has to learn to climatize themselves to. :)

Footnote: For those who are skeptic of blue, you may wish to visit the Blog called "House of Turquoise" (by Erin). It's one of my favourite blogs next to Ms. Vicky's of course.
