Terrarium

Have you made your own little garden in a jar yet? Terrariums are so easy to make and easy to care for. I encourage you to give it a try !



The first thing you will need is the container. Then you just layer, starting with an inch of gravel, 1/2 inch of garden charcoal, few inches of potting soil, plants ( be sure they need the same amount of water and sunlight), accessories and water! Could not be any easier!


I am really enjoying the one I made for my family room. I plan to make a few others for gifts . . .

  1. This is probably a silly question, but do you leave the lid on? Does moisture bead up inside?

  2. yes, leave the lid on and yes, some moisture will bead up inside, but it still looks pretty.

  6. Indoor terrariums are wonderful, but indoor plants do not like me, I have given up trying to keep them alive. Yours looks wonderful, though.

  7. Any reccomendations for types of plants in living in a climate that doesn't get too many days of full sunlight if at all? I live in the pacific northwest...lots of rainy days here!

  9. I would go to my local plant store and ask them. They will know what will do best in your area. You don't need but a few plants , so if they don't make it, it's not hard to replace them and try something else. Good Luck!

  12. There was an article all about terrariums and how they are back in style again. I remember back in the 1970's I had plants all over my house including a giant terraium. Little by little they died off and when I moved I left them there. I just donated a giant glass globe because I was afraid I'd get all wrapped in plants again. I'll just keep the few I do have. lol
