Tell the Truth

Do you ever go "blog hopping", come back to your own, and say, "I suck".

  1. I hope you are not thinking this about *your* blog! Your living room alone you posted in January was memorable ... heck if some of your posts were the only ones you had for 3 or 4 months it would still be a great blog!

  2. all the time! LOL! Don't worry; yours does not suck!

  5. Vicki, You are not allowed to think this at all!! I love your blog,it is concise and to the point and you always offer reader's participation. I for one am an avid reader and loyal follower. I just started the blogging process so naturally I am very critical of my writings. I have learned that not everyone that is viewing comments. Sometimes that feels like feedback that feels as if , they think I suck, hehe. I do wonder what they are thinking because of that. But back to YOU!! You are doing a great job, just keep doing what you do. Kathysue

  6. Well a great topic, I could write several paragaphs on this one, but I won't bore you!
But ya, I'm right there with you. You however don't suck, I love your blog. I on the other hand feel like a real loser sometimes, I guess I just don't have what it takes to have a great blog. Oh well, we can't all be fabulous like....well I won't name names.

  7. I am new to blog land so of course I think that, but I would not have you in my blogroll if I thought yours sucked. I love it...Kim

  8. Well, I do that sometimes, but then I stop and think about how different we all are and that each one of us has our own unique style.
Your blog does not suck by any means. So, quit worrying.

    hugs

  9. First, let me say that I completely agree with Cheryl, Kathysue and Sissie. If you're thinking that about your own blog, stop it.
Now, I'll say YES. All the time. But then I remind myself why I do this and who I imagine MY audience to be and shake it off.
In some respects, blogging is like high school. There will always be someone (several someones is more like it) who is smarter or prettier or faster or knows how to b.s. the teachers or simply has more talent. I used to tell my daughter: quit comparing yourself to everyone else and just be your own best self because you're pretty great already and I'll bet there are others looking your way and wondering how they can be more like you. Moms are supposed to say things like that I know, but in that case and this, I really meant it.

  11. * Hmmmmm... as a "NON-BLOGGER", I just learned a few things that maybe "I" need to share with Y'AL! (And MAYBE that will make Y*O*U FEEL BETTER TOO, because we non-bloggers know sooooooo ltttle about what REALLY goes on behind blog doors, so to speak! ANNNNNNND, am sure NOBODY EVER would want to HURT anyone else's feelings!!!)~

Let's start w/ the fact that "I"/we didn't know that YOU know WHO stops by! Sometimes, we're just like y'all (in a real hurry/on the way out the door, etc), so we just take a "quick, looky-look" before leaving, knowing we'll come back later, when our errands/projects are done... so please, know THAT's nothing "personal"!!!

Personally, I don't comment all the time, either~~~ it takes so long and if I truly "disagree" w/ something, why bring it up? (It doesnt' change anything & I'm not out to start WWIII~~~~ IE: If, IMHO a room is "ugly" NOW, it's not going to be prettier in ten minutes! Hmm?).

I WILL admit to TWICE, verrrrry gennnnntly saying I didn't care for something or the designer or the way it was done. (I've forgotten now)~~~ anyway, the blogger actually removed the comment. This was my observation... a politely stated, certainly nothing ever nasty, just a simple opinion, that the blogger disagreed with, so she removed it. If you think about that, and what's going on in today's society, that can be kind of a "creepy feeling", don'tchathink?

I, for one, VERY MUCH APPRECIATE ALLLLLLL the time put into blogging~~~ the research, the photos, etc. I'm always amazed how you gals get THIS done as WELL as raise terriffic kids/families, etc.

SOMETIMES a quick look tells us that w/ OUR limited time, and knowing we can't read every blog we'd like, we actually have to "pick n' choose" what topics interest us MOST that particular day & then hopefully go back to others if/when we have time.

So I hope you understand you are VERY MYCH APPRECIATED~~~~ and that's why we're here "reading y'all's columns".

BTW, before I close, may I say THANK YOU to you, dear Susan, for opening this topic today? I didn't truly realize it, but I think it helped "open some windows today"! Your blog is one of my very personal faves because you are always short, sweet and to the pint, and I appreciate that~~~ MUCHO!

Much love & many warm thanks,
    Linda in AZ*

  12. I really enjoy your blog, so informative. And always thought provocking. I understand what you are saying, there are so many fantastic blogs out there. Sometimes the great ones make me sad and I feel sorry for myself. What a childish thing, I kick myself and remember to be greateful for what I have!
Like Tracy said "it's like being back in high school"!
    Have a great Valentine's Day...

  13. That just cracked me up. I started a blog a month ago to help market my new booth in an antique mall. I love blogs and can spend most of my spare time surfing. The funny thing is that no one knows I have a blog, so no one sees it. My next post might be "Dear Diary..." But right now while figure out what I'm doing, I'm happy to be invisible. Not saying that "I suck," but there are sooo many really creative and talented people with blogs. Your's is great and in my blog list. LOL!

  25. I think we all have, don't you? And then, sometimes I think...."what are they doing right that I'm doing wrong?" Oh well....as long as we enjoy it that's all that matters.

  26. Hi Vicky!
You have a wonderful and inspirational blog and have been so helpful to me this past year when I started my own. I hate that "s" word...so I won't use it...but of course, there will always be bloggers who have more time or talent and there will always be bloggers with less! Who cares? We are all different! This is for fun and for sharing! And by the way...Can you really tell who stops by but doesn't leave a comment? You see, still learning! :) Happy Valentine's Day!

  27. Hey Vicky I loved this. Reading all these great comments. I love your blog, but sadly found it just recently. So I haven't read too many of your posts, but the ones I have read are wonderful. We all need to remember why we started to blog in the first place. I started to blog to connect to women with the same passions as my own. I didn't know that it would take so much time though, and have been having to limit my time blogging. So sometimes I just pop in and read posts and then go back in a few days when I have more time to leave a comment. Your blog ROCKS my dear. I LOVE it!!!
    hugs

  28. Y.E.S. I read so many amazing blogs and I come back to mine and say to myself, "why am I doing this?" I do love connecting with people with like interests. There is nobody in my life who I can talk to (except my eldest daughter and she is too busy) about decorating and design. And if I didn't blog I would not know you and that would be a shame. I like that your blog is interactive. I can't figure out how to add that to mine, when I do, I will owe you. I have learned a lot from you, I am learning to trust my own judgement from reading your opinion of rooms and decor, because you and I often agree. Hugs, Cindy

  31. "Bite your tongue Ms. Vicky" and "clear those negative thoughts from that beautiful 'n talented head of yours". Not only are you a dar..lin but your blog is creative and unique.

Now how is that for an opinion? LOVE YOU GIRL! -Brenda-

  32. Sending a very big hug to you!!! When I saw this I literally laughed out loud! And it is one of those things that made me stop and read all the comments. I completely echo what the dear Linda from Az said. And, also for me sometimes, I seriously can not think of anything articulate to contribute!!! I know an embarrasing admission-right? And, sometimes it is so nice just to visit and read the post and the comments. I do this alot. I have recently learned it is called LURKING! It's kind of like when you are with a big group of your favorite gals..there is always the quiet one, the lively one and everyone in between. I think for me personally there are many different types of blogs to enjoy and my blog roll will reflect a wide range...some for the writing , some for the images and some for the topics. But while I am sure even as a designer, I will simply not be the interesting to everyone, everyday and that's OK.

    HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I do.
But then I remind my self that some of my favorite blogs are basic and simple.
Often the voice is more important than the looks.

    ReplyDelete
  34. and with that let me say....it's human nature to second guess ourselves....I like what Tracy@Comfort and Luxury said.....there is always going to be someone smarter, prettier, faster, etc. In reality though, our job is to be the best "US" that we can be...no one is perfect. We all bring something different to the table...that's what makes the table more interesting!

    xx

  35. I am going to feel that way when I leave here and go "home" to my blog! Almost two years of blogging and I still have so much to learn... like, how do you know who's been "lurking"... is there a tool or gadget for that?

I love what I've seen of your blog! I'll be back to visit again... I don't always leave comments if I don't have something original to add!

    Blessings!
