ReplyDeleteI see a use of textures, subtle patterns and soft natural color palette in each room. Very soothing and quite beautiful.

ReplyDeleteI love your challenges. To me, the common thread is the uncluttered, calm, neutral theme in each room. Happy 4th!
ReplyDeletefeel like I'm taking a pop quiz and am SO unprepared :( But I'd guess that each room has a definite focal point element. The headboards in the first image, the sweeping basin skirt in the 2nd image, the immense wardrobe in the 3rd image. In the 4th image, the masonry itself is the focal point of that area and the pieces of furniture serve only to highlight that with their subtle contrast. In the last image, the strong linear metal bed frame is a focal point. All of the rooms are composed to complement the focal point gracefully. Maybe with the long essay, I'm thinking I'll at least get partial credit :)

ReplyDeleteThey all have lots of texture, but the one thing I notice is the monochromatic color scheme. Each room is done in one color tone. Not sure if I'm using the correct "lingo" here, Vicky, I'm not an interior designer. But that is what I notice right off the bat.

I agree that the monochromatic color scheme seems to be used in all of them. An additional thought is that they all utilize items that maximize the vertical space utilizing either art or tall items (mirror, armoire, curtains, lamps) to draw the eye upwards and showcase either the height of the room, the height of the windows, or a ceiling feature (such as the beams in the stone hallway).

ReplyDeleteI have loved these comments! Some have made me laugh out loud, so much fun. You guys are the best. Okay, MY thoughts... all of the spaces are on the small side and have low contrast of color. This will always make the space look bigger and feel more peaceful. The last photo does show a bit of contrast with the black... however the black is thin and you can see through it! A little contrast when done right will not effect the low contrast space and will create some interest. Ms. Brenda noticed right away the the floors and walls were very much the same. Cindy also hit it on the head. Way to go gals! Loved this post!
