I have been making a few changes here and there in my house. It is amazing what just a few minor changes can do to update a space. This is my very tiny family room, it has a large window behind the sofa, which I love , but it makes the lighting almost impossible for a good photo of the space. The floor was the biggest change! Have I said how much I am lovin my wood floors lately? I will never have wall to wall carpet again. I took the rug from my living room and replaced it with a larger one , this one works great for this space, another good reason to keep your colors flowing from one room to another in a home . . . I also got a new rocker for my little man, new lamp, an antique chest replaces the coffee table and I brought home a painting from a trip to Hong Kong.

Love your wood floors. I would so love to have some instead of the carpet in our familyroom. Maybe next year. Your new antique trunk and the chair and picture are all just wonderful. Beautiful room. Small changes do make such a huge change. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteWe have very little carpet in our house. Love love love wood floors.
ReplyDeleteI like the changes you've made to your room. Beautiful!
Changes at our casa? We have a new lantern on the old back porch. Working on a little master bedroom project here and at our lake place. Something is happening around here all the time.
I'm with you on wood floors. So much better than wall to wall. The difference is dramatic in your family room. Love that trunk!
ReplyDeleteAs far as changes to our house, I just ordered two twin beds from Restoration Hardware and can't wait to replace the bunk beds in our guest bedroom.
We're doing wood floors !!! Large plank...darker stain. My carpet now looks like your before. Feel not bad I actually refuse to take a before shot :)
ReplyDeleteOh & I just ordered at Williams Sonoma Home the Chelsea wing chair in an Ikat. Sale & free shipping!!!
Your trunk is wonderful!!!
While I love the changes, I also like the before :) Great job!
ReplyDeleteYour wood floors are gorgeous and the rug gives the room so much warmth. What a great find. Love the trunk. It looks as if it could tell a story or two. Always warm and inviting like the rest of your home,Kathysue
ReplyDeleteLove this room and of course wood floors make a huge difference. Great trunk. I have an old one too used as an night stand in a guest room. Saw your post on Love Where You Live blog. Such a pretty place to meditate. She has asked me to send her pictures too of my get away spot. I read your comment on Kathysue's Father's day post and sounds like we have the same dad issues. Mine lives in Florida and last year I saw him one day for the first time in three years. Have a great day and stop by some time.
ReplyDeleteVicki, I just had to come back and tell you what a sweet heartfelt comment you left me today and I am soooooo glad that you are blogging again, I truly missed you. Now things just seem right with you back here. Thanks for becoming such a wonderful cyber-friend, Have a good day today and a wonderful week,Kathysue
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Wood floors are by far the best investment anyone could make, in my opinion. They make everything else look great.
ReplyDeleteFor the past few years I have looked high and low for a trunk just like yours. I'm beside myself with jealousy. I CANNOT find one anywhere.

Hi! So glad you're back to blogging. I've so enjoyed your perspective and Eye for Design.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the update!!! Love the trunk!
A room full of furniture never speaks as loudly as just one strategic piece with character.

I really like the changes you have made, they look really great. I love the wood floor and the chest in place of the coffee table. I would love to see what the piece of art on the wall looks like close up, it looks very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI haven't made any real changes, but I am about to in the Master bedroom. It needs to be more cottagey and less of what we used in the condominium two years ago.
Hugs, cindy s
Ooooh I LOVE The after!!! Looks fab!! So great to see you posting!!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the new look Ms. Vicky; particularly the chest. Such character!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Coffee Tables and changes; I eliminated ours during the Winter for our Grandson (who just turned four) and has a passion for Hockey. YES hockey, you heard me correct. He now has a place in our Family Room to set up his Junior nets so he and his Grandpa can play a game of Ball Hockey when he comes to visit. Oh the sacrfices we women make for our Grandchildren, Children and Hubbys. :)
There is nothing like a wood floor. I love the changes in the room. Sit back and enjoy the room.
ReplyDeleteBrenda, I did not have a piece of furniture in my LR when the kids were small. It was full of toys , made a great play room right in the middle of our house where I could easily keep a eye on them. So good to hear from you, twiz and Naz! Thanks for visiting.
ReplyDeleteLove the rug . It really ties everything together. I always struggle with rugs.
ReplyDeleteYour room looks to cozy and inviting!
Pretty!
