There are certain features of a room that deserve to be played up, they are often sources of pride . . . " great architecture" is at the top of that list for most spaces.
These elements can be inherited or added to a plain space. Items such as fireplaces, columns, windows and beautiful moldings are all great "Architectural Elements" and in most cases will automatically become the rooms focal.
Often thought of as the "bones of a home"and same as with a beautiful woman . . . if the bones are good, they will always be beautiful!

ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU for the HUUUUGE, DREAMY TREAT!!!! "Who luvs ya baby?!?!"~~~
XO,

I am always attracted to the vaulted ceilings. Especially with beams. Our first home had a vaulted ceiling in the living room with a large peaked window. The home was built on rolling hills and multi-leveled. The kitchen overlooked the living room and you could see out the peak perfectly to the road that came into our cul-d-sac. ~ Robyn
ReplyDelete* P.S. Like CITYFARMER (above)said, I love the kitchen space too...Ahhhhh, do you THINK if I BUY the place SHE'LL do the cookin'??? (I like pretty kitchens for the LOOK, FEEL, WARMTH n' COMMARADERIE~~~ my desire to actually turn ON that thing that the FIRE comes out of is quite ANOTHER story! XOXO, Me *
ReplyDelete(* And it sounds like lucky Robyn/"IMJACOBSMOM" had a wonnnderfully delicious home!!!)
ReplyDeleteLove vaulted ceilings. I so want to "blow" the ceiling out in my bedroom and put in beams. Yep! Love all of these. Thanks Vicky! You're the best!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right on! Totally agree with everything you said. My heart stopped with number two. Love that kitchen. Your post makes me want to look at my home to see what elements "speak"...not quite like those pictures, however...maybe they whisper. :)
ReplyDeleteI adore those huge windows. I have large open windows on the south end of my home and it is a wonderful place to view the world. Thanks for sharing the lovely pictures.

The third space is my favourite namely because:
ReplyDeleteThough the other spaces are pleasantly aesthetic, the type of rafters are..... BAD BAD 'Feng Shui'!!!!!!
Okay girl, I seen you roll your eyes. :)
-Brenda-
I love beams and coffered ceilings....the stone wall in the first pic along with the beams...feels like Colorado or in the mountains somewhere.
ReplyDeleteGreat commentary to think about!
I wish I had bones like those!!! Love that first home, can you imagine living there? we are into our 4th day of heavy rain, enough already!! Talk to you soon,x0x00x
ReplyDeleteThose are gorgeous rooms. I especially love the last one! The thing that I dislike about brand new affordable homes is that there are no architectural elements at all. Some of them don't even have molding around the windows. I think that is what we love about our little old bungalow. There is molding around everything but the ceiling and we can fix that, eventually! My husband would love to live in the first two rooms, with all that wood! Great post! Hugs, ~cindy s~
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone and Brenda, no eyes rolling but lots of laughter... thanks
