Get to know Ms. Richardson

Sarah Richardson is Canada's version of " Candice Olson" here in the U.S. Her work is featured frequently in design publications in Canada, the U.S. and the United Kingdom.
She has three hit t.v. shows , Room Service, Sarah's House, and Sarah's Cottage.

But she is not your average t.v. designer. She has a keen understanding of the fundamentals of design, and razor sharp instincts in all matters of taste and style.

Known for her clean , elegant approach to modern . . .she is one of Canada's foremost "style makers". Do you see a bit of "Candice" in her work too ?

  1. Love her and her shows. I watch Design Inc. like it's my job. Will watch repeats over and over. I haven't been able to find Sarah's Cottage anywhere and would love to see it! Have seen every episode of Sarah's House , though. P.S. I thought Candice Olsen was from Canada ,too.

  4. I always enjoyed Room Service, but haven't seen the other two shows. Do you know what network carries her shows? Her rooms are wonderful and appear to be so usable. Sally

  12. Me again...Sarah's Cottage is amazing,if you can get it,it is well worth watching, got a bit of humor in it too,she puts up quited a fuss with her husband over a bunkie she wants(and of course, she wins)xox

  13. We don't get the channel Sarah's on in our cable package. Boo. I used to watch her on HGTV and love her style. I actually think her designs are more approachable and "real" than Candice Olsen's. Candice can be a little glam and impractical for me... though I always find a lesson in her use of color and lighting.
I see from previous comments that I may be able to get online videos of Sarah Richardson's shows... I'll go take a look. Thanks!

  15. I love Sarah Richardson. I know.... you're shocked aren't you? Thanks, Carol Ann! I'm off to try to watch the videos. Vicky, thanks for reminding me of this amazing talent. I don't get FLN anymore and haven't seen one of her shows in years. This is going to be great!

  16. I'm just about to pitch a fit. They won't let me watch any of Sarah's things (over the internet) in "my country"! Shoot!

  17. What network can she be seen on?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Oh yes Vicky, she and Candice Olsen are two of my all time favorites, love thier styles. In Canada we also get her show Design Inc on the HGTV. I first started watching her when her show Room Service came out, which i absolutely loved and watched the repeats until i was no longer able to get her on any of my tv channels.

  20. Love her especially Design Inc all because they show their screw ups. Its nice to see reality involved. Most shows edit out the disasters & for the everyday DIYer that only creates doubt. Kudos to Sarah for letting people see its not s journey of ease & perfection.

  23. * SR is such a doll~~~ talented, light-hearted, soft-spoken, respectful w/ "her" employees, & graciously "handles" any unexpected problems w/ a can-do attitude & great sense of humor!

His name escapes me at the moment, but I like the "guy" alot too~~~ he's a sweetheart & always "tells it like it is", even if it ISN'T exactly what she might have wanted to hear. I admire that & am sure SHE appreciates it mucho!

Annnnnd, I find her taste sooooo appealing... it's "simple, CLEAN, non-pretentious and oh-so-charming"... and there's always a little something (very subtle) that just makes it so approachable n' comfy!

Glad you highlighted this delightful gal, my friend!!! Good goin'!!!

(BTW, isn't it kinda "sad/ewww!" that your BD'S OVER now??? I liked T*H*I*N*K*I*N*G "HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you", Vicky!!!)~~~

    Big, warm hugs,
    Linda *

  24. yup, Sarah and Candace both have my vote...they do great work.

  25. Oh YES! Both Sarah and Candice are two of my favourite designers and its not necessarily because they are Canadian. Moreover than anything; I admire their 'practical sense'.
(For Linda, the name of Sarah's 'guy' is Tommy Smythe.) -Brenda-

  27. Hey girl! If you are still interested in finding a Santos, the person that I just bought one from has another one. You can see a picture of the Santos on my post from a few days ago or I sure the person that I purchased her from would be happy to e-mail you some pics.
any way.....her name is Alana and her e-mail is
    lanafe8@gmail.com
She also said she would be happy to ship her to you. She's another dealer at the antique mall where we are and I've known her for quite some time. She is very honest and dependable and I know for sure that her price was probably about $20.00 cheaper than you would find the same Santos anywhere else. Hope this helps you!
