Pet Peeve ~ Too Much

When you " over load " a space, you can not see anything and nothing is highlighted.
I would be willing to bet that there are some wonderful things here . . . but you can not tell for sure.

Yes, it is true, there can be " too much of a good thing."

Need I say more ?

  2. Oh, oh, it hurt to look at those pictures! Cuz you know it could look sooo much better, so easily. Like by taking down all but one of those plates on the last picture! Did you know that you can go in and "edit" any mistakes that you make on your entry? You don't have to leave it with mistakes, unless it really doesn't matter to you. In that case it is fine. I redo each of my entries at least three times each after I post them. Have a great Friday!. Hugs ~cindy s~

  3. Oh my! I could seriously get a headache looking at those!! What were they thinking? Let me guess...a well meaning "designer" said it would look good??!! NOT! There is something to be said about clean and simple.

  9. OUCH! I hope they see. Things always are truer than what you look at in person everyday. Good grief. I hope if I ever did that someone would reign me in!

  10. That last one was the worst! Did I see a chaise in there somewhere? How would you like to dust all of that stuff?

  11. As a professional organizer I'm all too familiar with scenes like these -- less is usually more!

  12. Yikes! Agreed! I'm such a minimalist that this never ever ever happens to me.

  15. I agree you and with Farmer, Edit, Edit, Edit.

I can't stand it when I walk into a house and there is 'stuff' everywhere. Even if it's good 'stuff' it often just looks like a crowded shop with displays everywhere. Blech, what a way to live.

  18. A drunken old-school sign painter taught me the importance of negative space when I was very young. Some of his lessons made way more sense than the ones I learned in design school!

  19. Amen...all the clutter makes me crazy! I like the more simple, pared down approach. :)

  23. As I was "x-ing" out of the comment I had written, I vaguley saw something to the effect of my comments couln't be posted....

Anyway, like I said...heehee...I cannot imagine what the "designers" were thinking when putting all of this together. I go for the "less is more" type of decor. But truly...that reading lamp on the mantle?

    Have a good weekend!

    Blessings...

  24. Not only am I getting the "almost empty nester" (I have a 17 yr old son who is about to be a SENIOR in high school)..., I am so on the "over load" bandwagon. I see so much now that I look at and have no idea what the point is. quite frankly, I look away because I just can't take it! Too much of a not even good thing is all wrong. I am also not getting the I don't know what it is being called, old, ugly doll head thing. Have you seen this? It has been all over the Texas flea markets (Roundtop, Marburger, Canton...) Old nasty looking doll HEADS. They look like some vodoo witches closet. Scary! My point? They are showing bunches grouped together. As if one wasn't bad enough, 20 are horrifing!! Kisses, kim

  26. Lordy talk about trying to hard & yes Im referring to the first image. I don't know whats more atrocious the concept (if its really one) or that someone photo'd & published it.
Obviously the designer was asleep during the lecture on negative space at school.
