Last week I finally brought it home ! It is 70 years old, from Belgium. I love the style and the subject suits my home here on the farm. I could not wait to get it hung, and did so without any help from my sweetie . . . who by the way has yet to notice it! I don't know why I am surprised by that. I once asked him how he liked the new chair? He looked at a chair that had been there for 15 years and said, " it looks great" . . .

Adding to my Art Collection
I believe "Art" should be very personal. It should make your heart sing , grab you as soon as you see it and haunt you if you pass by and don't bring it home. That was just the case with this painting. I first saw it months ago, kept it on my mind, continue to go back to see if it had been marked down . . .

The Art looks perfect in the room. Love the story about the Man of the House - the one in my house is the same. With mine, if I ask him about that rug/fabric/paint color before buying it or putting it in place, his nose will curl up and he'll say "isn't there anything else?"
ReplyDeleteI think it must be a "man" thing not to notice. The picture looks perfect in your bedroom. Good choice.
ReplyDeleteI know I'm a bit late but congrats to Kelly on the win, and I think those pics of Little Man Tate make you the big winner Vicky. He's just so adorable.
Thanks Naz, and you are so right. He is perfect, always really and willing to smile, cutest baby ever...
ReplyDeleteOh I do really love your new painting. It is wonderful. It's always so great to find a piece that you really love. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteYour new art is lovely! Your husband is too funny and much like mine!
ReplyDeleteI love it. When you pick that piece of art that speaks to you, you will love it forever. You're lucky that hubby doesn't stand in the way of your great designs. My friend calls her husband Ralph and has to battle with him on every detail. P.S. Gotcha covered on that other thing.
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT, Ms. Vicky. So glad it was still available for you to purchase and to think, in another thirty years (which really isn't all that long) it'll be an antique.
ReplyDelete-Brenda-

ReplyDeleteWow. It's beautiful! So lovely.
ReplyDeleteHi Vicky! I love your new art. I agree with you about hanging things on the wall you really love! That's funny about your husband! Men! :)
ReplyDeleteYour bedroom is just so beautiful and I love the sun streaming in.
Be a sweetie,

Oh! Beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteOk, laughing out loud here with your husband story!!! Too Funny! And I know exactly what you mean!
ReplyDeleteLove the painting. Suits your room to a "T"!
That is a beautiful painting, Vicky, and being 70 years old makes it even more priceless. Guys just aren't that observant, aren't they?...Christine
ReplyDeleteThanks guys! Great to hear from you Brenda!
ReplyDeleteI bought a picture I saw through a window. I connected to it karmically, since the front door was locked and said: "Out to lunch." My motto is: "Shop often, buy once." This picture grabbed me. I wrote down the name of the store, and bought this painting from a polaroid snap shot. I still love it. It is one of the few paintings I have purchased with a love at first sight, moment.
ReplyDeleteAll the Best,
Liz
beautiful blog!
