  3. I see them all the time;
there is something to be said of a living thing.
Really irreplaceable. Nothing beats a live plant and so good for air quality.

  4. O mine too! I banned them from my wedding.

  5. OMG Vicky, I am thinking about doing a post on this. I'm kind of afraid to though, because I see so many fake flowers from other bloggers. What kills me is someone who will set a fantastic table with gorgeous vintage dishes, linens and silver, only to have the centerpiece be faux! I feel pretty passionate about this! Dried hydrangeas, etc. don't count. I'm talking about fake silk flowers from hobby stores. I say, if you can't have real flowers, then don't have any at all! Hey, anyone can go outside with a clipper and clip some branches, etc.
I'm with you girlfriend, and don't hang your head.

  6. Love this picture...it's great. I am on the fence about the silk flowers...in some cases there just isn't any alternative, but I certainly don't like them on every surface. I know that all good interior designers agree with you. I mix them in for color with natural dried foliage. You will probably get a kick out of my post today it is related to this subject.(-:

  7. Although I understand the need for them (sometimes) I don't like them at all.

  8. Hmm...Am I missing part another part of this discussion? lol

I like faux flowers and used them in my wedding. We were married in 116 degrees, outdoors and if I'd have used live flowers they would've looked terrible in five seconds. Cheap fake flowers from wally world are dreadful. But I think you should take a look at my wedding photos....no one knew they were fake until I told them. Here's the link if you'd like to take a look http://www.revampedfrenchmaison.com/2010/04/are-you-getting-married-does-your.html
If you still hate them after, I'll understand. lol...we all have our peeves.

    Blessings to you,
    Shanna

  9. I'm with you sister. You can call them silk, faux whatever. They are still not alive. I prefer the real deal

  10. I Viciy!
OMGosh I use wispy ones here and there. My cats play in the water and knock the real ones over. I love to use real flowers when company is coming over. But I have areas to fill and won't go to a flower store every couple of days. But I will say... I love to go outside and start cutting anything blooming and even add branches from my shrubs to fill in.
The real ones do make me feel alive and happy everytime I walk by them in a room.
Now about THAT BOOK! I just got it and started reading. Then I had to start flipping through to see all of the pictures first. Why did you give me that thing??? Oh my..now I want to re-do so many things. My head is spinning about pillows and curtains! It's an amazing book.
Thank you so much for letting me have it. I'll get so many ideas and inspiration from it.
I want to make some of those pillows that are boxed with ruffles and button up around the boxing. Did you see those? Too cute.
Well I'll stop now. But thanks again Vicky!

  11. * As my girlfriend from the south would say, "Honeeeey, they're like a bad booooob job... thair just horrrrible n' yer not foolin' annnneeeeeone, dahlin'"! (I love her wicked way with words~ and she says this with the SWEETEST of smiles, of course!!!)...

Seriously, I consider the weekly expense well worth it (and "supermarket fresh" are JUST FINE, if they are pretty n' make you smile n' feel good!)...(I usually try to stick to the same color per bunch, tho... looks a little richer IMHO)...

One last note~ I LIKE anything that doesn't PRETEND to be something it's NOT~~~ ADORE "twigs" from the woods, and dried hydrangea I think are delightful...

    XO,
    Linda in AZ *

  12. Me too. But my lovely mom had a floral arrangement made for us as a house-warming gift. Silk flowers. We call it the dust catcher. Shh, don't tell.

  13. It may not be popular to say but I love fake flowers! I have them all over my store. I tried living plants this past Spring and they were so much work. They were messy and I am only using fake one from now on...... He-he more time for me. sandi

  14. Thanks guys for all the comments. I don't think we will ever agree on this one. If you are a just say "NO to Fake Flowers" person, you can't understand ever using them, regardless of the heat, or how messy they are ect. And if you like silk flowers, you don't understand why we haters, hate them... I do agree there is a large range , some are not nearly as bad as others. I have two close friends that use them in their homes, one house is over the top in tacky... the other has great taste and hers are not so bad.She felt me juding her...lol and tried to go real, just for me, but could not keep them alive and did not want to continue buying them . As always, it's your castle, do what feels right for you.

  15. I thought I should add just to be fair, that I use a fake Christmas tree! And for the same reasons... I don't like the mess and it is so much easier. We used to take the kids to the mountains where they grow them and pick one from the tree farms, but the last time we did that, the youngest did not want to go, the oldest went and stepped in dog poo and got it all over the suv. We put the tree up, only for it to fall and break half of my ornaments. I gave in and got a fake tree.

  16. I use to have a real Christmas tree, not anymore. Between the prices soaring and still finding pine needles in July I had reached my limit.

  17. NO head hanging my dear, lift it and be proud. Fake flowers is an oxi-moron.. I just posted on drying them cause I can't bare to be without the ones in my garden all winter.

  18. Oh, my blood pressure goes up thinking about RMS. Bloggers are so much nicer! I love the pop of color from flowers but have allergies, so I can live with a few pink and white roses or tulips here and there. Besides, the kitties don't eat them. Have a nice weekend.

  19. I understand why you would say "NO" to fake flowers. I have two or three single flowers around just for the color. Real ones just don't last, so no flowers is my answer usually.

  20. Hmmm, I would like to have that stone figure in my garden....Christine

  21. I don't mind a restrainted touch when using fake flowers.

Personally, I hate all the fake tags all over the blogs and the old books scattered all over the interiors. I don't think it looks decorative to have old books around just filling up space. JMO.

  22. That image. That cutline ... made me laugh!

  23. This is a funny topic...I just realized your blog, you were back...where have I been? Well anyhow, I am with ya on this....I have SOME...when I say some, I mean some....I really so not care for them at all...I usually buy fresh for my kitchen...and I use some this time of year for decorating in the Fall.

  24. I think I said pretty much the same at Revamped French Maison; however my post was deleted?

And this from someone who has DEER heads on their walls? Give me a break!

  25. I LOVE real flowers. Have them every week. But we do sell a few silk floral arrangements. Mostly because some of our clients wanted to have something floral to look at in their vacation homes, before the florist could deliver.

Some spaces just aren't really condusive to real flowers {plus, who has the time to refresh dozens of small arrangements every week?} There are some beautiful "fakes" out there, but real is always preferred.

  26. Count me as non-discriminatory as I feel 'fake' flowers/arrangements do have a place in our society. :) -Brenda-
