We did it in Lacey's house in the "play room". She is thinking of using it in "T's" big boy room that is soon to come. I am the very person that writes on it the most... lol.
It has been around for quite awhile, but I think it is practical enough to stay. I am not sure it will be used as much in the future but in the appropriate place I think it will have longevity. Not a fan of all over cabinetry but on one or a pantry door or a childs wall I like it!! KS
I'm liking it too, however I don't see it in my home. My daughter has a young family, and I'm trying to talk her in to painting a big wall in her kitchen with chalkboard paint. I like the idea of creating a frame on the wall, then painting the inside black. Hopefully, she will listen and obey! ~D
I love it! But not in large doses in my house either. I did just last night buy an old silver tray with a worn out interior to paint out with chaulk board paint. Wish me luck! Vanna
I have a chalkboard in our kitchen. But, my youngest daughter has an entire wall in her bedroom! She (and we) love it. It lets her be creative without it being permanent and is great for keeping up with her schedule and studies!
Sorry, but I'm not a fan. Can't really say why except that its just messy and I don't like the texture. Chalk and chalkboards back in school were always unpleasant and smelly to me. Maybe I'm just weird, cause seems like everybody else seems to like it!
Not to say chalkboards don't have a place in the home but I too (like Terry) am not a big fan of them. Whereas, a line of chalk is a whole different matter. Did you know a line of chalk is a great deterrent for Ants? (I mean the pesty little insect type that sometimes invade your home and not your aUnt ------- who lands in unannounced for a month's stay.) SMILES -Brenda-
Great tip brenda! I would not want it for my own home either, but with the right family in the right home, I love it. Not everything that you like is for your home!!! Edit, Edit , Edit and don't be weird like terry...lol
I'm not a fan of it either. All I can think of how messy the chalk gets and I'm not sure how you're suppose to get rid of it once this fad has passed. I've seen it in alot of bloggers who have very young children but otherwise that's about the only place I've seen it.
Sorry I haven't written lately but I do keep up with your blog Vicky.
I love it, one wall looks magnificent, the black is so rich looking. I couldn't do a whole kitchen of it, too much of a good thing. My kitchen is too small, or I would have a wall of it. I painted the inside of a frame instead and made my own chalkboard. Hugs, Cindy
my daughter, age 14, has two complete walls that are painted with flat chocolate brown paint mixed with a little powdered grout. This was a Martha Stewart recipe. The color was her choice and they work great as chalkboard walls. The other two walls are a bright turquoise. Her friends love 'redecorating' her walls every time they visit.
Well, you have quite a cross section of opinions on the chalkboard painted walls and cupboards. I guess I fall in the middle. Don't want a whole wall, but I do have small tray painted with chalkboard paint over my kitchen stove. Hmmm... and I did suggest to my daughter to paint her pantry door.{Don't know what the landlord will think when they move...(smile)} But there again, she has small ones at home, and a hubby and busy schedule and brother who is a room-mate to them; So it is always full of some chicken scratch or other...LOL! I guess it works for some.
Great pictures of inspiration...my favorite would have to be the dining room. What better way to start conversation for a dinner party, huh? -have a great week! Pat
Re the tip, you are welcome Ms. Vicky and heh are you insinuating Terry and I are weird? If that is the case then .... be thankful, be VERY VERY thankful you don't live near either of us. Smiles 'n hugs -Brenda-
Naz, so glad you let me know that you were out there... don't you know that I blog for comments!!! LOL Thanks everyone and Brenda, I would never say you were weird, a bit strange maybe...lol

Happy Saturday!
at the very top of my "CAULK BOARD" list ....
ReplyDeletebeen doing it for a long time ...
flat black works good, too
I put chalk board paint on my refrigerator, looks great and is super for a grocery list.

ReplyDeleteYes! is there a way to "make" a wall a blackboard?
ReplyDeleteLove it and won't ever get tired of seeing it. I'd love to see more of that kitchen on picture #2 though. Where did you find that?
ReplyDeleteLOVE it- don't think i'll ever tire of it either. Just painted an entire wall in my kitchen with black chalkboard paint!

ReplyDeleteI love this new chalkboard trend. We are now able to be as creative as we want in our homes.

ReplyDeleteI DO like this especially if there were still kids at home! Maybe one day when I have grandchildren I'll have to do it!
ReplyDeletexx
It looks so cool.
ReplyDeleteI love it.
Awesome!
That is the smartest idea to paint.
;-}~
Number two was my favorite! I can't wait to try this out.
ReplyDeleteIt has been in my house for ten years! I still love it!
