When designing a large space it is so easy to become overwhelmed. A solution for this is lots of color and pattern, the space will quickly become more intimate and cozy. Another tip is to be sure you have enough furniture in the space. Often creating smaller areas within the space is very helpful as well. In this bedroom the solid white duvet offers a peaceful place to rest the eye and the mind, becoming a very important element in the space.

Lovely room and some good tips. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteHi Vicky,
ReplyDeleteGreat advise! I had a large bedroom once, and it was a challenge to decorate in such a way that made it look nice. I needed more money than what I had to make it look good.
This is a lovely room.
Hugs, Cindy
Vicky great advice and a perfect example of it done well. happy weekend,Kathysue
ReplyDeleteGood point, Vicky. We have come through several years where many designers have noted that they just don't use patterned fabrics--they rely on texture more for variety, and we have been influenced by them that patterns are wrong, or just poor design choices. I confess that I have been in that mode for a while, but how silly! Just goes to show that good design is more classic and slight of hand, like filling a large space with a variety of pattern--making it cozier, than just being a slave to trends. Thank you for the insight!
ReplyDeleteSome good advise.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend.

This is such a gorgeous room. I love the lime green walls with the raspberry wallpaper and fabrics. Great design lesson too. The white duvet makes the bed look so inviting and creates a place for the eye to rest--as well as a tired body! xo Delores
ReplyDeleteBeautiful room! I love having multiple seating areas in larger rooms. It allows for more intimate conversations.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I have 18ft ceilings in my family room and it looks like a dance hall! LOL!
ReplyDeleteGreat advice but I'm not sure about this room ;)
ReplyDeleteJuju, I am not crazy about this room either, but it is a good example on how to design a large space.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for all the comments. Hope everyone has a great day !
I love that mixture of patterns and especially the apple green wall!
ReplyDeleteWhew! I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't "like" this room. *winks* It has some lovely features but that much pattern drives me nuts!
ReplyDeleteI remember first moving into my house with it's 16 ft ceilings and putting the furniture from my old house in place..... And it looked sooo empty! I learned real fast that I needed to break the room into multiple seating groups. Course I've more than managed to fill it up now! Lol! Vanna
I don't care for a room with lots of different pattern but that's me.
ReplyDeleteI learned something from this post and now I'm searching my house by filling a living room that looks empty.
My heart does a little dance whenever someone comments that they learned from one of my post. Thanks guys !!!!
ReplyDeletealso, add furniture! too many people don't have enough furniture to fill up a room, esp. a large space.
