Vignettes are special treats for the eyes. They are small scenes in a larger setting; islands of beauty.
Any surface ~ bookcase, table, desk, mantel or ledge is a candidate for a vignette.
The ideal is to create a composition that invites viewing and stirs interest, even if just in passing .
Hopefully one will create a subject for conversation . . . do your vignettes give you things to chat about?
Ab Fab. love this.
ReplyDeletethanks for your comment. I hate to be a nego. but, still - those coffee tables!
Well said! Once I complete a vignette, I like to let it "nestle in" for a day or two to see if it too, is comfortable. I also find that once I change one, I need to do another is a different area of my home. Thank you as always for your inspiration.

I love creating vignettes. I like to shop the house. Taking from a "tired" vignette and adding to a new vignette, makes the elements seem new again!
ReplyDeleteVery inspirational! Are there principles for creating good compositions?
ReplyDeleteI love the vignette photographs. Thanks for sharing them.

I love beautiful vignettes, your pics are really nice. I have a hard time putting them together, I have to think and play for a long time before anything comes together. Some folks are so good at it. Hugs, ~cindy s~
ReplyDeleteI love to create vignettes! It's my favorite part of decorating. I could move things around every week if I had the time!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! One of my faves: table vignettes. Wordless introductions to the homeowner. You get to know her/him in such an exciting and interesting way. Plus, they're pretty! -s

I love the shot of the old white shutters behind the table of wonderful things - love the old books, the lamp, the shell or rock, all of it! Very nice post!
ReplyDeleteI love vignettes - but I am terrible at creating them! I think some of the most special interiors are made special in part because of the lovely vignettes.
