This is one of my all time favorite rooms. I remember the excitement that went through me when a client showed me this picture and said, "This is what I want, can you give it to me?" Could I ever, but in the end, she would not let me. When I brought her fabric to look at . . . she told me that they did not match! She got a room that she loved, but it was not a cool room like Linda Applewhite would do.
She uses color in unexpected ways. Often she will use reds and oranges together , then add a punch of green just to keep you interested.
definitely!!!
ReplyDeleteI adore the bedroom.
ReplyDeleteShe uses very interesting art!
Absolutely! I've had that bedroom picture in my inspiration files for a long time, too. I used to love seeing her on that HGTV show where they would try for the same look for less and most of the time it was her original room being copied.
ReplyDeleteShe would be welcome in my castle any time! I appreciate anyone who takes a clients desires to heart. I love her use of yellow and red together with white, as in that bedroom. She is obviously very artistic! Cindy S.
ReplyDeleteI love what she does. And yes, I'd welcome her in my castle. Yet, realistically, I have limited resources, and I know that my digs would not be appropriate for this kind of decorating.
ReplyDeleteLOVE Linda Applewhite's style... and have a half written post about her myself mixed in among my drafts that I've never finished!... you might see it early next year so please don't think me a copy cat! Oh, and those slipcovers that look like little dresses? One of my favorite things ever!
ReplyDeleteI remember her on HGTV too. She did seem to use red, orange, and yellow a lot. And I agree, she did it so creatively. Too bad your client put the halt on you. Some people don't have that eye for coordinating fabrics.

Yes, I have seen her on HGTV. And all of her rooms have that warm, whimsical, definitive look. You can always tell a room she designs.
ReplyDeleteLovely.
I've followed her work for years and keep her website bookmarked. She has such talent for mixing fabrics.
ReplyDeleteOh yes welcome indeed. I used to watch her on that show "Sensible Chic". She loves orange, I knew I loved her.
ReplyDeleteLeAnn:)
Yeah, I remember her on TV too. Loved the Tuscan diningroom that she did on Sensible Chic. She was on Curb Appeal a few time too.
ReplyDeleteTami E.
I love the bed head and footboard.
ReplyDeleteyes i would! I love her work..it's very fun and interesting..There's so much to take in and see when you look at a picture of one of the spaces she's done.
ReplyDeleteLOVE that you posted about Linda's work! I have admired it for quite a while and wanted to take a class from her in Santa Fe once upon a time but could not work it out. Great post, happy holidays from one who can't help but love color!!
ReplyDeleteI have admired Linda's work since I first saw it on Sensible Chic. She can make a space look sophisticated and fun...two words not often used to describe the same space. Jenny C.
ReplyDeleteI browsed a few of her portfolios and yes, I would welcome her into my Castle as I think we may share the same love for fabrics, pattern, texture, detail.... and Artwork. Not too sure about her use of reds and oranges in abundance; as I personally don't feel I could live with those colors for a too long of a period.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed being introduced to her, as her work is 'sensible and chic'. Thanks Vicky!

Nice as always to see you ms. Brenda! I always love it when you come calling. Where is that side kick of yours... ms linda?
ReplyDeleteI think she got a make-over her self, I love her new hairdo, I think it fits her interiors much better. I love how cheerful her spaces are ...a little over the top for me but wonderful eye candy.
ReplyDeleteoui oui oui oui oui oui
ReplyDeleteCricket, I could not agree with you more! I would also have to edit a bit, but then it could be so wonderful! Thanks everyone for the great comments.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteVicky, She is one of my all time favorite designers. I don't think I've ever seen a room or outdoor space that she's done and not absolutely been gobsmacked by it. Yes, she can invade my castle whenever she would like.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Linda Applewhite!! If you log onto her website she plans excursions where you can visit her in Santa Fe and tour her home as she shares her decorating tips!! Wasn't unreasonable prices either!
ReplyDeleteARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! I WOULD WANT HER TO MOVE IN!!!
ReplyDeleteHUGS FROM MAINE
I love Linda Applewhite she use to be on a couple of HGTV shows, curb appeal and I can't remember the other one. I did not recognize her with long hair. She does a wonderful country french look and some her exterior transformations are unbelieveable.I would definitely have her in my home. Kathysue
