This One is For Joan K

Joan left me a comment that noted that most of the time I showcase rooms with white wood work. She asked if I could show some examples of rooms with dark stained wood work... Joan this is my own living room, I have stain wood work throughout my home.
I got this photo from Joni's blog http://cotedetexas.blogspot.com/ If you don't know Joni, be sure to check her out. Cote De Texas is a big reason why I started a blog of my own.

Don't remember where I collected this photo. But I think this space is very inviting. I hope this helps Joan. Do I have anymore request out there? I will do my best ...

  2. Beautiful examples Vicky!

Re requests; do you recall a bedroom that may have been posted on RMS that was done in a black 'n white Toile print with a mix of B&W patterns but was wrapped in an (Apple) GREEN. I believe it may have been one of the top-rated ones.

Also, while on the subject of GRRRRREEEEN do you have any favourite color palettes that incorporate GRRRRREEEEEN.

    Thank you ..... Brenda

(Thinking to myself...LOL I will probably never live this down.)

  3. WOW, talk about fast delivery. This is fantastic. Thanks ever so much. Your own home is lovely and so are the other two examples and yes, I do read Joni.
I really needed this blog today because I just finished 3 hours of stripping paint from gorgeous old woodwork that I'm dying to stain espresso (I'm doing a reno) and yet I was questioning my sanity when it seems that everywhere I look there's just white woodwork (including my own home). You've reminded me through these lovely pictures that it will be worth it in the end. Thanks,
    joan k.

  4. Brenda, there is just so many things I could say... lol But, I'm going to be nice and just do a "Green Post" for you. I am glad it has been confirmed that my blogging is not in vain...I do remember the room that you are thinking of, it was by Kennet or something like that. I will try to find it. But give me a day or two. I don't want to keep posting so often. People will think I am "lover 32" remember her...xoxox

  10. * Always enjoy seeing YOUR spaces, Vicky-girl! Awe, gee whiz, and THAT'S where we "met"... at RMS in your LR, remember?... What, a gazillllllion years ago now?!?!? Brenda, too, and oh! That was fun!...

That second pic of Joni's is SOOO FAB!!! ~~~ I ALWAYS wanted to at least TRY "all whites", but was never "gutsy" enough because of our constantly moving, AND, fearing of NOT being able to keep it clean enough for me! (And WE never even had kids, just dogs! How silly of me NOT to do it!!!). In an effort to lighten up for spring/summmer this year tho, I added all kinds of white linen pillows all over the LR & other spots in the house~~~ didn't do THAT sooner, cuz I thought it wouldn't "work"... but, it looks FAB!!! (Geez, talk about "woulda/coulda/shoulda"... SOONER, huh?).

Biggest hugs (healthy, germ-free ones, of course!)
    XOXO, Linda *

  11. Hi Vicky!
I still have chestnut woodwork...it has darkened but is still beautiful and I cannot paint it....just can't do it.
I wanted to let you know I finally did the One photo - tag challenge and I linked to you....hope that's ok! Have a great day!
    Laura :)
    P.S. Who is lover32?

  12. mom/linda, you and brenda both should be blogging ! I would love to see those pillows ! Are they on rms? I know if you like them I will love them.

  13. Vicky, I could just hug you. The comment about Lover 32 had me laughing out loud. All those posts with nothing changed except a pillow or a plant. It was another reason I lost interest in RMS. Well, that and what a pain it is to even try to look at anything in there now.

  14. Vicki, I love those rooms. I do remember yours. I love the accent color in your room. Burnt orange is a awesome accent color.

I do remember the black & white room with the green accents. But, I don't remember who it belonged to. It was beautiful.

  15. I LOVE that green color on your walls!
We also have stain wood work throughout our home. I love using white colors and patterns as an accent. Looking forward to your next post!

  19. Vicky can you get this message to Linda/Mom

Hi Linda, thank you for stopping by my blog, i have no pictures of the sofa on my blog, not yet anyway...lol still working on that room along with many in this house. Trust me the sofa isnt all that pretty, its microfibre for its durablility with our very busy house, 3 teens and thier friends. However, i call it moss green, some may call it dark sage or maybe even avocado, the color doesnt always show well in pictures. I did have it on RMS at one time and use to always visit your spaces over there, and as i recall very beautiful space. Its been so long since i have been on the site but i think my name was decorfun but not a 100 percent on that. However, i will try and get a picture for you, but as i said it really isnt fabulous but when i do i will let Vicky know so she can reach you.
    hugs
