COLOR ~ No Commitments

The number one fear in home design : COLOR ! Color can lock you in a design style quicker than any other element. Colors come in and then quickly go out! But part of the fun of decorating is in experimenting.
If you love to stay on top of the design trends and fads, the easiest way to do that is with COLOR ! Start with a neutral backdrop with some staying power and have some fun with color.

Changing the color of acessories can make a dramatic statement in a room. I can see this bar in all sorts of differant colors.

I wonder if they will love their living room five years from now, or even one ?

  1. oy! I'm sorry, but that room is tacky! who did it? - that daybed, which should be so beautiful, is so ungraceful. That wallpaper! those fabrics. I have seen so many gorgeous pink rooms lately and this aint one of the them. who did it? I'm being obnoxious. I'm sorry. It's just ugly.

  2. Some say beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder and so the world goes. My neice loves pink and hehe she would probably love the pink room. I think I could like it without the wallpaper. No matter what you like someone will dislike it. I am digging the yellow island. I have a problem. I was asked to paint a backsplash ,sor of thew same size of the one in the kitchen. The problem is ,the house is Stickly style and I am not sure what to paint on the backsplash. Any ideas???? Kathy

  3. A room with THAT much color would get tiring in no time at all. In my humble opinion anyway.

  5. I recognized the happy couple of the pink room.

I don't care for the room, at all. It certainly wouldn't take long for me to tire of it.

  8. Just found your blog thru Ms. Rue's blog...Doesn't she amaze you with all her talent? Your LR is so pretty and colorful but i have to agree the, the pink room is overkill but if it is their "thing", so be it...I think I also recognize him, atleast...

I am new too at this blogging thing but I have met so many wonderful friends and I guess it doesn't matter how uncomfy you feel or how much you don't know about blogworld, it has become fun. I will be stopping by for more decorator inspiration and hope you will stop by my place for whatever "stuff" is going on in my life.

  9. I wonder if this couple/family has ever heard the expression "too much of a good thing"? That was the first thought that came to mind when I viewed what has to be an obsession with the color of pink.

I'm not sure, but wonder if some therapy for OCD might be called for.

  12. Hi
I just read your comment at Snapshots from the Back Porch. I rarely check that blog and just happened to have put the church photo up over the weekend. Snapshots is just a little blog I started to fill a need to share my photography hobby.

    My regular blog is:

I'd love to have you stop by Back Porch Musings. I post several times a week. This was my first blog, started in March of 2007. My subjects range from decorating to day trips and other travel, grandchildren's antics and life in general. The majority of posts are decorating related.

    Thanks again for stopping by.

  13. Think Pink! Definitely too much in my opinion, however to each their own. (I'm not a big fan of the color anyway.) I do appreciate the play of pattern though and their choice of Artwork.

The yellow Island certainly does makes a statement and like yourself I can envision it in an array of colors.

  14. Bonjour! You are ever-so-right that color is the biggest fear...aside from cost! Thanks for the comments on my post...I aprreciate them. And I am happy to see that more people love Charles Spada's work. I think he's one of the top 10 designers in the country.

  16. Vicky, gorgeous blog, incredible taste. Now about the pink room. Well I may have a different take than some people. You know I've been plugging away at this decorating biz for a long time. I've come to realize that one's "true to their heart" style is very personal. Truly one man's dreams are another's nightmares. Personal expression is what makes this creative pursuit interesting to me. I really do appreciate something original and personal. It may not be for my home but it really makes me happy to see someone living in a space that truly represents them. I guess I have really learned to appreciate quirky! Well, I am really looking forward to what else you will be sharing. So far I am really inspired. Cindy

  18. Well as someone who lives in the equivilent of a sepia photograph..that pink is WAY to darn much!! But I do appreciate that "to each his/her own" Funny thing the older I get, the less color I want around me. I think I'm turning into an old fuddy duddy! Lol! Vanna

  19. That is a lot of pink for most but I would imagine they love it and it is their own personal style so with that in mind they accomplished their goal.Working as a color consultant I have learned that color is more of a psychology than just paint or fabric and having the colors around you that you love is very important.I learned in my youth after using rust, remember that trend, that I can not and will not live with orange. Now it is huge again in the design world but not in my world. If you stay true to yourself your home will always wrap its arms around you.Great examples in this post of what to do and what not to do.Good Job,Kudos to you,Kathysue

  20. I would have to shoot myself, if that pink room was in my home. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing, and I think they're there.
