Do you ever find yourself in the mood... Even though I love the look of these romantic, overly feminine rooms, I know they are not for me. And yet, they always turn my head.
I stop and linger, I fantasy, I wonder about the person who created such soft sumptuous spaces and tell myself ... someday.
But deep in my soul they will forever be like " the other man", fun to think about, but knowing full well, "it is never going to happen". So tell me... do you have any fantasies?
I love the look, girly but still kind of rustic! The couch is so neat, but not the type to lay down and read a book on or watch a movie and my schnauzers would have the pillows on the floor and be really sad that they couldn't lay on the back of it or the chair. Love the columns in the bedroom picture.
Ummm I could move into any of those rooms in a heartbeat! They are definitely my style! But alas I do not YET have a room like them.. However being the delusional gal that I am...I dream of a chateau in france...say a nice little 15000 sq ft place? Decorated in 18th century french antiques....I don't want much! *winks* Vanna
My fantasy is a big farmhouse with a big wrap-around porch and a very large kitchen with a butler's pantry set up perfectly for baking. Gardens right outside the door with herbs and veggies and a cutting garden for bouquets of daisies and bachelor buttons and cosmos and such. A barn with a hayloft set up for family and friends to dine and dance and sing in. Rolling hills and a pond as far as the eye can see. I think that Jacob would enjoy that, too. ~ Robyn
Oh these are eye-candy but am afraid even though my DH is not particularly interested in interior decor, he would not feel comfortable in such surroundings. Recall there was a beautiful tastefully decorated Living Room, once posted on RMS that was all in pinks and white; very feminine and frilly. Of course the comments ranged from ooooos 'n ahhhhhs to just downright nasty.
My fantasy would be living in Southern France and owning a Vineyard with a magnificent view outside my bedroom window. (Blue skies, rolling hills in the distance etc.) The decor would be upscale French Country.....and maybe Vanna could live just down the road in her Chateau? -Brenda-
Oh yes! I dream a lot about what I want and I want a lot. LOL! I love those rooms but that bedroom is too feminine, it will never pass for a master bedroom as long as I still have my hubby. But I do enjoy looking at their beauty!..Christine
FIRSTLY, may I say I think MRS BEN should win the showhouse in Sedona?~ it sounds soooo perfect for her! (Don't you agree, Brenda?). Loved Robyn's dream, too~ sounds soooo delicious!~~~ I go from beach to mountains in my "dream homes" (as LONG as DH n' dawg are there with me!), I guess "depending on the day", but I'd like to REEEEALLY downsize/simplify now (tho I keep buying DISHES, darn it!). "The beach" is a VERY SIMPLE COTTAGE sporting all "old" (AND new), whites, beige linens, old beamed ceilings, olllld wood floors topped w/ simple sisal (not even bordered!), white-washed walls, TONS of BOOKCASES, BOOKCASES (EVERYwhere! And the time to READ the books IN them, on SOOOO many topics!), NOTHING "precious"/"too fine" to worry about, old sea boxes, all white stoneware dishes in bulk, thicker-than-the-norm but pretty balloon wine glasses (also in bulk &for use with EVERYTHING), & for my "BIG" SPLURGE??? NOTHING but GLASS WINDOWS facing the ocean, & an old stone patio w/ a big firepit & some "blooming things" in old pots for color.Add a closer proximity of friends n' family and yep, that's for me ~~~TODAY! (Now tomorrrrrow, it may just be the mountains, but that's ANOTHER story!)...... Thanks for encouraging us to realllllly stop & think for a moment about what would be truly heaven-on-earth, for US, personally... it IS attainable! We just have to put our minds to it! Many thanks! Linda
Loving your comments! That was the point to this post. I love the rooms, but no, I would never do one in reality, they are fantasy for me...Not my only fastasy , but one of many! I love Robyn's and Linda's, but I also love Glenda's too. I guess if I ever came into big money I would do a simple swedish decor in a small cottage over looking the ocean! Well, today I would...
I adore the cottage look...like out of a storybook! That kitchen fits right in to the fantasy! I saw your note...thanks for dropping by! I'm afraid by bloggin' days might be a little slow for a bit! :-) L~
Vicky: I did a search on the home Linda/Mom was talking about. (For those interested in knowing the link to the Showcase Homes it is pasadenashowcase.org) They are the 'ultimate'. If you do even more thorough searches you can find the paint palettes. (Thanks Linda! Would love to have/or win any of them.)
Morning Girl! Oh I have big dreams in my head...I love big old wrap around porches and huge kitchens..lots of moldings and windows and just so Southern & so country and chickens out in the yard..ohhh sorry got carried away there for a minute! lol There are many roms that I just stare at but I know I could never really live in them..but they sure are pretty to look at! Hope you have a great week my friend!
Hi... just found your blog and there you have one of my all time favorite houses posted, I kept that issue of Country Living because of that house!! Great blog, great post....and great taste!! Chrissy
hmmm... my fantasy is neoclassical & large although in reality I'll probably never have either in a house. I'll settle for elements though- a small house with a large living room (that was made from combining 2 rooms or something like that..) or ditching my attic space so I can have high ceilings...
Hi Vicky, Love that first pic of the bedroom! Sometimes it's fun to just do one "over-the-top" item in a room...satisfies that need to have something "fantasy like" without having to redo the whole room or spend a fortune. Susan
Fantasy?! yes, to have 6 or 8 homes to accomodate my extremely large list of styles and looks I love in the climates and countries that I'd love them in! I do like all of these rooms...I'd make some changes, but overall, the feeling is soft and feminine and soothing...who can't use a dose of that? ;-D
HA!! I think u and i have a lot in common. i get it. YES! these rooms make me want to be IN them. but its a side of me that i KNOW is not practical. i am far too neat and clean and all those fabrics would require way too many washings (for me, i am a dust fanatic). i can't wait to peruse your blog as i know it is going to be pretty much my own mind at work. going to add u to my blogroll. hope i can convince you to do the same. xoj

ReplyDeleteOMGosh, sorry this is so long!!! Guess I went "on vacation" here! Forgive???? Smiles n' hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteMy fantasy as I grow older leans toward comfort with low maintenance.
ReplyDeleteI could live in the bedroom and kitchen. Even with it being white. I just love the softness. Kathy
