10 min. Vignette

I try real hard not to do a lot of "ME" post on my blog. I am very uncomfortable posting my clients homes and most my friends do not know that I have a blog. My mom only found out yesterday. But I thought I would share this work in progress with you . . .

My youngest daughter recently moved out and I am turning her room into a all-purpose space. I do not want to spend a lot of money and plan to use the room for my gym, scrape booking and the computer. I wanted to get a table for the scrape booking and found this one at a junk shop for $200.00, plus it came with 2 chairs that were like the ones I use in my pool house so I jumped on it. I brought it in "as is" and put together this little vignette in about 10 mins. I wanted to show that it is not the condition or style of the peice that makes it work, it is the eye candy on top.

Again, not wanting to spend a lot of money, I got these simples drapes at T.J. Maxx I did finally iron them.

This is the before, I closed the drapes, because my daughter had not cleaned her window in . . . forever! I added texture to the walls and hard wood flooring. I still have a long way to go, but I wanted to let you guys see what I have been up to.

  2. Oh, I see an Asian influence in there! I love that piece. Nice table, I like the legs - is it a drop leaf?

You make it sound like you got caught smoking - your "mom only found out yesterday" . . . : )

I understand you don't like to do posts about YOU, but I hope that you'll feel comfortable enough to share your progress with this room. I envy you the fact that you have a whole room to work with for yourself, and I'd love to see how it comes along.

  8. Your table vignette is very pretty! I have a vacant daughter's room too... although I'm not yet entirely convinced that she won't be back! So I haven't even painted over the "Greek Tapenade" (a wasabi green) yet!!

  12. No, the dog is not real, it's a statue. You can not tell in the photos, but I used things that were special between leah and I since this was her bedroom. She got me the plaque, there is a bird in the nest that was in her shadow box, she got me the book...ect. Thanks everyone for the sweet comments.

Very pretty, can't wait to see what's next. You were smart not to tell everyone about your blog. Me I blabbed to anyone that would listen. Now I know friends are reading it but not making comments. It's kinda uncomfortable. Oh well live and learn!

  19. I love that you have posted about yourself. Your room is going to be very nice. I enjoy your blog very much.
I know we each one decide what our blog will be about and mine is about me. I am not a designer or decorator of anything, just a "wanna be". I have only told a very few people that I know, about my blog. It was meant to be a way to keep in touch with my family, because I live so far away from all of them, but they don't seem to be interested. So, onward ho! Now it is about me and my interests and making new "friends", like you. Hugs, Cindy S.

  21. I want to say that I in no way meant to imply that a "ME" blog is a bad thing!!! I just wanted to do a decorating blog that everyone could pick up a few tricks of the trade from. Show lots of differant styles ect. I did not want to act like it is my way only... Thier are lots of great styles and great style of blogs too, that was just my goal for my blog. I sure hope I have not offended anyone.

  22. Vicky I have known you back from the days of RMS and you are one of the most talented, sweetest and modest people on this 'green earth' and if anyone took offense to your statement, then it's because they don't know you and misinterpreted it.
    Many many hugs -Brenda-

  23. A nature inspired vignette displaying treasures with a designer's touch. The vintage table leaves an aura of time and personality that can't be caputured with 'new'. Beautifully arranged and expertly executed, my friend.
