When you have a room without a window, you need to create a room with "Mood". Never fight with a space . . . the space will always win.
I suggested that she go with a reddish brown hue and she loved that ideal. The cabinet came from Pier 1, the vessel sink and light fixture were e-bay finds, the towel bar and towel came from Target.
She used a faucet meant to be used in a kitchen, but who cares . . . always think outside the box.
The art is a
piece from a vacation in
Thailand. It is always fun to use
pieces with a story behind them. Lace held on to this while riding behind her husband on a
motorcycle.
This is a very small room, but it has lots of interest. . . That should always be a goal for any space.
Forgot to say that the mirror came from Kirkland. You don't need to spend alot for mirrors, ect.
ReplyDeleteThis is a lesson well received. You are so right about this and look at the end results ~~~ beautifully done. I love this warm room.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful space you created! So luscious and exotic! Bravo!
ReplyDeleteI agree completely about giving small spaces color, drama and lots of things to look at. They blur the edges and make you forget about the smallness. That rule about painting small spaces white to expand space? Hardly ever works.
ReplyDeleteDear 101,
ReplyDeleteThis is really neat that you are showing a room without a view but with interesting features and colors to make the room pleasant.
You are sharing with us a room you that decorated? Like your sharing. This is a enjoyable post. Glad to stop by for a visit and see this room.
God bless,
d from homehaven in kansas
Perfect space to do that little jewel box you always wanted to try. I love the color! The vessel sink is very pretty.
ReplyDeleteOh gorgeous Vicky! Love the cabinet and the kitchen faucet is just the right touch. Tell Lace we love it!

Love everything about it! Not your usual boring little powder room. Looks great.

It's great. When I do redo my bath upstairs I am getting a vanity with two bowl sinks. I never used to like them but they have definitely grown on me and the faucet is perfect.
ReplyDeleteLeAnn:)
Beautiful!!! I love the colors and that faucet is great!

ReplyDelete-I love that! - and will try hard not to forget it lol....I really like this bathroom and love small rooms like this that can be turned into jewelery boxes in a way....lovely :0)
OH!!Your good girl!!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny, this is the second time this week that I have been reminded of a powder room that I saw as a child - in the home of a friend - that was one of the most beautiful spaces in the eyes of a young child. It had no windows, and was decorated in a cozy and cocoon-like chocolate brown - even the toilet and sink were brown (it was the 70s, what can I say).
ReplyDeleteYou did a fabulous job, love the color and the vessel, faucet, mirror and all of it!! sandi

Gorgeous!!! Love that color, and the finish. Using the unlikely makes this room unique, chic, and truly one of a kind - and really, what more can you ask for?
ReplyDeleteLove the vessel sink! (Actually I've seen it before and know I have saved it as a favourite. Do you know that you can get some very fancy stoppers for them?)
ReplyDeleteRe the use of a kitchen faucet elsewhere; I feel is a marvelous idea. They have some wonderful designs and are generally much easier to maintain.
BEAUTIFUL JOB Ms. Vicky!!!!! Hope you share more of your daughter 'n SIL's new home that you applied your expertise to. Hugs

Love it! I have a VERY tiny excuse for a bathroom in my master bedroom. The 1970's version. I bought a vintage painted (black) buffet to use as the sink base a good 2 years ago!! If Hubby doesn't get busy with the redo soon I swear I'm going to take an axe to the existing fixtures myself! The walls are still bothering me though. I just can't seem to decide....light or dark??
ReplyDeleteI love that sink! And the red paint works so well with the colour of that sink!
ReplyDeleteGreat!
Greet
Love your blog! So glad I've discovered it!

Beautiful! And I am quite sure it did not cost an arm and a leg, right? That is the kind of decorating I like. Hugs, Cindy S.
ReplyDeletei really enjoyed looking at your blog. this little bathroom is lovely, but i do want to make a comment about the beautiful buddha carving.
ReplyDeletehaving lived in asia for nearly 20 years, i know that many asians would find that putting an image of buddha, or any other religious image, in a bathroom over a toilet would be considering shocking and offensive.
if possible, i think we should be more sensitive to other cultures. perhaps another motif or icon would be more appropriate.
thank you.
