Get to know Ms. Bailey

Southern style plays a big role in South Carolina designer Ford Boyd Bailey's designs. Born and raised in the South , she appreciates it's traditions.
Ford loves to take the traditional elements of her Southern heritage and shake them up just a bit. I'd call her style, "Southern with a Twist". It's a look she calls "Edgy Traditional." Whatever one calls it ... It's wonderful!

Whether it's the arrangement of furnishings and the objects or the way artwork is hung, there is always an element of surprise. She never puts a mantel over a fireplace and you will never find a swag near a window in her designs.

Her rooms have that sought after appeal of a house that has been lived in and loved through several generations of family. To create this look you will find a careful mix of materials, old beans ect. I sure could live in one of her homes ... could you?

  1. It appears she may like to use accessories to draw your eye towards architectural details such as the wainscotting,
mouldings, window frames, flooring etc. Even the bed is simply dressed to accent the posts on the canopy bed. Even though subtle and tasteful, I think I would like to see just a 'punch' of more color. (ie: Last photo - a vase full of dark crimson flowers.)

  9. I am not crazy about the last picture, but I wanted to include it as not everyone has the same taste as me...however, that being said, she may just be my #1 favorite! She is for sure the first one that I tried to find out who and where she was. I guess in case I ever had any money...lol

  13. There is just something about Southern decorating that is unique to the South and doesn't look the same duplicated any place else ..... and I love the look. Maybe one day I will move to the South (Florida doesn't count.)

  14. Hi once again ... thanks for the visit. I rarely visit RMS and if I do it's to leave a message for MOAGS. Too time consuming no matter how fast my computer is trying to work. The only thing I have going for me blogwise is I write about literally anything and/or anything that pops into my mind. And I don't try to keep to any schedule.
