Most of the time I tend to be a secret admirer of color ...
I simply love this room ! Why, oh why, can't I have the courage to "just do it".
Part of the fear comes from my love of change ... I am afraid that I will be locked into something that I will soon want out of ... What's your excuse?
Mine's the same as yours. I get bored easily and want to change!
ReplyDeleteI love the pink room, I used to be afraid of colored walls, thought they should all be white, but my daughter came along and she loves bright colors so I thought what the heck, you can always buy Kilz and paint over them and start over, in my living room and kitchen I have pink and lavender, big bold change for me, but they make we smile when I look at them.
ReplyDeleteHi there!
ReplyDeleteLove all these rooms. And I tend to gravitate toward more color these days. In one of my jobs -- field editor for magazines -- I see so many neutrals, that I think I crave color more and more. But look how easy it could be ... those white chairs with the colorful cushions! But, I know what you mean when you question "will i get tired of it?" So valid. Well, since my magazine shoot is over, I wanted to see how people "edited" those more-is-more rooms. Off I go to see, -susan
I usually pick a color and then pick something else at the last minute!
ReplyDeleteI know the problem! I LOVE color, flowers prints etc. especially in other peoples houses but when I try something like that in my house it just doesn't work. So that why I keep it pure&simple ;)
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog and it is beautiful! I'll be back! I know I love color. I couldn't live without it!
ReplyDeleteMy other problem is I like a house to flow...if I do a color like that it would stand out like a sore thumb. I know I would tire of a entire house that colorful. Welcome Bella!
ReplyDeleteYou are so RIGHT! I like rooms to flow into each other and colors some how distract me to much. I tried it a few times but after a few weeks it realy started to freak me out.
ReplyDeleteSo deep in my hart I realy am a bright color, prints and pattern person but in practice I am more a pure&simple person... split personalities!? ;)
As Nike so eloquently put it "just do it"
ReplyDeletewhat's $40 and some elbow greese?
Yes, colours are something we can never live without and yet we are scared of.... may be it is just that we are still not strong enough to challenge ourselves out of our comfort zone....
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog and so introducing me to yours! You have a beautiful blog and I have to go through your older posts to know you a little better....
sure thing, I'll be back!
I love color too and it IS so hard to make a decision! I love those chairs...I want to do each seat cushion on my DR chairs a different color! Try to give some umphhh to traditional furniture!
ReplyDeleteI have a fear of commitment! It takes me so long to paint anything & I'd have to live with something that may not be quite right for a very long time! ☺
ReplyDeleteI took a look at those transparent slip covers....beautiful....I can just see one of my "men" scooting up to the table with "something" on their hands. They are simply gorgeous...not practical in any sense, but stunning all the same!
ReplyDeleteRe color. Take a peek at your wardrobe. Is it colorful? I think 'everchanging' hit the nail on the head, when she makes reference to 'comfort zones'. Perhaps one instinctively gravitates towards colors that are right for themselves.
ReplyDeleteie: Re the last photo. Myself, though I am not a 'pink person' I would have preferred to pick up a softer tone from the area carpet and wud have had a bright pink lampshade. My excuse wud have been the HUE/INTENSITY of the 'pink' walls distract from the stunning bed.
I have been forced to think about this with this posting...I am quite sure that my problem is that a lot of color just would not be right for my house. I think a house will tell you what it needs and just because one likes something does not mean it is right for the house. Does that make sense to anyone out there?
ReplyDeleteMy friend has a soft pale pink bedroom and bath. It is just so lovely . Kathy
ReplyDeleteHello my friend...
ReplyDeleteLove this post and your question! Of course, you already know my answer...I love color and you can tell by looking at my place that I'm not afraid of it! I say do it, Girlfriend!!! Hehe!!! I love that pretty peachy orange with some accents of coral...ahhh!!! It's so happy and refreshing! I wouldn't worry about changing a bedroom too much...paint is inexpensive and you can bring in accessories...sheeesssh, what the heck am I doing? You know all of these things...you're the professional!!! hehe!
Just wanted to send my best wishes and blessings to you and your family for a Happy Easter, Sweetie!
Love ya,
Chari
Vicky, have you ever noticed on Real Estate Shows when people are house-hunting most cannot see past the decor? It drives me crrrrrrrazy! Most are oblivious to the 'bones' of the 'structure' itself. Reason why I suppose there is such a need for Home Stagers????
ReplyDeleteTherefore I think I understand you when you say 'a house will tell you what it needs'.
Brenda, I know exactly what you mean. My own sister started not to buy a house because the kitchen had wallpaper...I said, are you kidding me!!! That's a weekend job...glad someone out there understand what I mean by a house will tell you what it needs. If I were to do a lot of color I would have to paint all my wood work white and my living room ceiling ect. And I am not willing to do that.
ReplyDeleteI"m NOT afraid at all... I have LOTS of coloured walls in my home: red, 4 shades of green, 3 shades of blue, castle grey, taupe and 2 shades of brown... that really sounds bad... but it looks FAB!
ReplyDeleteDon't be afraid... it you don't like it... you paint over it... NEVER locked in!
I think my excuse is that I am just plain lazy. LOL. It's only colour after all...and a few days of sweat!! :)
ReplyDeleteWe're only living in our apartment for one year. The walls can be painted white and have already been done.
ReplyDeleteI just adore the pink bedroom. If you are in love with it then you will not tire of it. (not that easily anyways)
